Temporarily Hiding Text From Printing
If you have a section in your document that you don't want to print, but you don't want to delete, you can hide it in a comment. Select the text, then choose Insert, Comment, Create. To return the text, click on the comment marker, then choose Insert, Comment, Convert to Text.
Moving Text From One Open Document to Another
From TipWorld: To quickly move text from one open document to another, take advantage of document buttons on WordPerfect's application bar. Select the text in the first document, and then drag the selection to the target document's button on the application bar. Don't drop the selection, but rather pause for a second or two over the button until the target document maximizes in the WordPerfect window. Continue dragging the selection in the target document to its destination and drop the text. To copy the text rather than move it, hold down the Ctrl key while you perform this procedure.
Set Measurements in Points
You can enter a point measurement instead of inches when setting many formatting options (i.e. line spacing, margins, indent). Simply typing a "p" after the number. For example, 11.5p is translated to .16" (or thereabouts) and .5 is ".007". Posted by Helen M. Skeldon.
Moving Graphics with the Keyboard Arrow Keys
You can use the arrow keys to reposition images in a document. Select the image first, then press the left, right, up and down arrow keys to move the image around. If you hold down the Shift key and then press an arrow key, you can the image in smaller increments and be more precise on the placement. From Tipworld.
Indenting Long ToC Entries to Set Them Apart from the Page Number
John Robinson offered this tip on the WPWin-L listserv. If you have long table of contents entries, they can extend all the way over to the page number, making it hard to "pick" the page number out. If you set it up so the table of contents entry is double-indented, there is a half inch (by default, you can adjust this) between the entry and the page number. Here are the steps for WP8 and WP9. Choose Format, Styles, Options, Setup, check System Styles. In WP9, choose Format, Styles. In either version, select TableofCont1 (or TableofCont2, or whatever level you want), choose Edit. In the Styles Editor dialog box, delete the Hd Left Indent code. (If you don't see this code at the bottom of the dialog box, put a check in the Reveal Codes check box.) Choose Format, Paragraph, Double-Indent. Choose OK (or Close) all the way back out.
Searching More than One Folder with QuickFinder
Clicking Find in a file management dialog box searches the current folder by default. You can extend the search into other folders, or create a search of multiple folders using the Advanced options. Article 16536 article has the steps to create a custom index.
Use Screen Captures in Documentation
If you write training materials or other types of documentation, you know that a screen capture is worth a 1000 words. You may not realize that you can capture screens and insert them into WordPerfect documents, without having to buy special software. The Print Screen button captures an image of your desktop and saves it to the Clipboard. Its cousin, Alt+Print Screen captures the active window (or dialog box) and saves it to the Clipboard. After you've captured the image, click in the WordPerfect document, then press Ctrl+V to paste. That's it! You can resize and move the image as you would any other graphic. From Tipworld.
Print Thumbnail Images of a Document
One of the features introduced in WP9 allows you to print thumbnail images of a document. In the Print dialog box, click the Customize tab. Choose Thumbnails, then click the button next to it to open a palette where you can click and drag the number and the arrangement of the pages. The page ordering can be changed from Across to Down if you like. The sample pages shows you how things will look and how the pages will be numbered.
Selecting a Word in WP10 Also Selects the Space After It
The rules for selecting text were changed in WordPerfect 10. For example, if you double-click a word and then apply the Underline attribute, the space after the word is also underlined. You can revert back to the way text is selected in WordPerfect 9 with a little known settings option. Choose Tools, Setting, Environment. Click the General tab. Place a check mark in the Use WordPerfect 9 Text Selection check box.
