 Sharing Address Books in CorelCENTRAL8

This knowledge base article gives the steps for setting up address books within CorelCENTRAL8 so they can be shared across a network.

Accessing WP8 AB entries from CorelCentral AB9

This article on Corel's KB explains how to access your WP8 Address Book entries from CorelCentral Address Book 9.

Publishing the Contact List to HTML

From TipWorld: If you frequently use a Web-based system, such as a company intranet or personal web page, you may find it convenient to have a copy of your address book contacts available in HTML. Open the Address Book from WP9 or CC9, then choose File, Publish to HTML. Select the HTML layout, the range of data, and the  columns to publish on the Address Book tab. Then select any other options that you require from the Banner/Signature and Location tabs. Be sure you select View After Publishing (on the Location tab) so that you can review the results before uploading it to your intranet or web page.

Export the Address Book for Travel

From TipWorld : For all the road warriors out there - you can export your address book to a file that you can view or print on any computer, even if Corel AB isn't installed.  Open the AB, then select the tab for the AB that you want to take along. Choose Book, Export, Entire Address Book. In the Address Book Export dialog box, select the drive and folder where you want the file saved (this could be a zip drive or a floppy drive). Type the name in the File name text box and click OK. The file gets saved to ABX,  which is really ANSI with a special header. You can open the file in WP, Word or Notepad. Ignore the gobbledee-gook at the top, just scroll down to the entries. Note: While groups won't export - the individuals within the groups will. Tip: If you have Quattro Pro available, this file opens very cleanly in a spreadsheet.

Keep Data Updated when Copying Between Address Books

There are a few ways to copy entries between books in the Corel Address Book.  However, the methods can produce very different results. One way to copy a name is to select the name you want to transfer, choose Edit, Copy from the menu bar and then choose Edit, Paste in the destination book. However, if you then edit the entry in one book, the change is not transferred to the other book.

If you want to keep the data updated between books, use one of the following methods instead. First, you can copy a name simply by dragging it to the tab of the destination  book. Alternatively, select the name and choose Edit, Copy Names from the menu bar. When the Copy Names Between Address Books dialog box appears, choose the destination book from the Available Address Books list box and then click OK.

This tip was suggested by Blaine Witherow and posted on ZD Journals' Inside Corel WordPerfect Suite. It applies to CAB 7 and 8.

Protecting Your CorelCENTRAL 8 Address Book

From TipWorld: You can protect your CC8 Address Book from unauthorized access. Select the address book, then choose Address, Address Book, Rename. Click the  Security tab. Click Hidden if you do not want others to open the address book; click Read-Only if you do not want others to edit the information.

 Rearranging Address Book Fields

You can arrange the fields in the Address Book to show only the information that you want. Simply drag a column heading to a new location on the heading bar (you'll see a transparent shadow of the heading you're dragging appear next to the mouse pointer).

CorelCENTRAL8, PalmPilot and the Address Books

This article explains how CorelCENTRAL8 supports PalmPilot synchronization.

Custom Fields Are Not Showing in the CorelCENTRAL9 Address Book Window

Problem: when creating custom fields in the CC9 address book, the fields don't show  up in the address book window, or in the Import/Export window. Solution: you must create at least one address book record that uses the new custom fields in order for them to appear. From knowledge base article 205614.
