Transferring WP8 QuickWords to WP9
QuickWords are not stored in the default template--they are in a separate template file. Copy the QW8EN.WPT from the \corel\suite8\template\Custom WP Templates folder to the \corel\WordPerfect Office 2000\template\Custom WP Templates folder. Rename QW9EN.WPT to QW9EN.OLD, then rename QW8EN.WPT to QW9EN.WPT. Note: if you aren't using the English language version, the EN part of the filename will be the two-letter abbreviation of your language version.

Disabling Em-Dash and En-Dash Conversions
One of the QuickCorrect features allows you to quickly create en- and em-dashes. If you type two dashes, QuickCorrect converts it into an en-dash; if you type three dashes, you get an em-dash. If you want to disable this feature, there are two places where you have to go to turn it off. Both are in the QuickCorrect dialog box, so choose Tools, QuickCorrect. The en-dash is the third entry in the list and the em-dash is the fourth, so select them and choose Delete Entry. Now, click the Format-As-You-Go tab and remove the check mark next to QuickSymbols. Choose OK and you're done. This information was posted by Paul Merrell, mediator, WordPerfect Universe Bulletin Boards.
Extracting QuickWords to Import in Another Program
This Technical Information Document on Corel's Knowledge Base explains how to extract QuickWords. WPLOOK.EXE is in the SDK directory of the WP 9 install CD. It doesn't install unless you do a separate install of the SDK from the SDK directory using the SDK SETUP.EXE. However, it can be copied from the CD to the WPO2k/programs directory.
Inserting Graphics with QuickWords
And you thought the QuickWords feature could only be used for snippets of text! First, insert the image in a blank document (or open a document that contains the image). Turn on Reveal Codes and select the graphic box code--position the red cursor to the left of the code. Press Shift+Right+Arrow to select the graphics box code. Choose Tools, QuickWords then type the abbreviation that you want to assign to the image. Choose Options and make sure Expand as Text with Formatting is selected; otherwise the graphic won't appear in the document. Choose Add Entry. Expanding QuickWords Without the Spacebar or Tab Key
This is a good one from TipWorld: For convenience, WordPerfect expands QuickWords whenever you press the Spacebar, Enter or the Tab key. If you find the resulting spaces problematic (a centered heading, for example, where the extra spaces throw off the centering), you can expand the abbreviations manually with a keyboard shortcut.
First, disable the automatic expansion. Choose Tools, QuickWords, then deselect Expand QuickWords As You Type. To manually expand a QuickWord, type the abbreviation (QuickWord), then select it. Press Ctrl+Shift+A. You can also wait until you're finished with the document and expand all the QuickWords at once. Press Ctrl+A to select the entire document, then press Ctrl+Shift+A to expand.
