Hi! I'm Laura Acklen - welcome to my web site. Read Gilgen and I wrote Que's Special Edition Using WordPerfect 9
as you may have surmised by that tiny little book cover I have on the home page. I'm pleased to say that we have completed our work on the Special Edition Using WordPerfect 10
book. We expect it to be available in mid-December.The long version
of my bio is laying about if you have a few minutes and you're interested in how I got started in the business of technical writing. The short version is that I started out doing LAN systems integration for law firms, doing everything from configuring NICs to developing customized training materials and training the staff (yes, even the attorneys...on Saturdays, of course). After that, I did courseware development and training for Productivity Point, International, a corporate training company. A fast friendship with another trainer led me to Macmillan Computer Publishing - that was back in 1993. I've been writing and editing books, training manuals and instructor guides ever since.
So, why do I do it? Because I'm nuts, that's why! No, for some reason, I really enjoy the challenge of taking a difficult concept and breaking it down into simple terms. I want the most intimidated person to
understand why they should invest the time to learn something. It's very rewarding to see the light go off above their heads. I would love to hear your comments about the book - good or bad. If we're lucky and the
book sells well, we'll get the opportunity to make some revisions for a reprint. If we're super lucky, we'll be updating the book for service pack releases and we'll get a chance to really clean house! You can email me
